Young rugby player airlifted to hospital during match in Uppingham

A young rugby player was airlifted to hospital at the weekend after he suffered injuries during a match in Uppingham.

The air ambulance was called to Uppingham School at 4pm on Saturday after George Smith, 17, was suffering from pain to his neck and upper back while playing for his team Oundle School against Uppingham School.

He was flown to Peterborough City Hospital for a medical examination and released later that day without needing further treatment.
