A MEDICAL centre patients group has donated £500 to children’s hospices.

A book stall at St Mary’s Medical Centre in Wharf Road, Stamford raised £2,100 in 2010. The stall is there all year round and patients make a donation when they take a book. The money raised is given to a variety of causes.

The £500 was presented to East Anglia Children’s Hospices by Anne Farrer, treasurer of the St Mary’s Medical Centre patients group, which runs the stall and chairman Babs Cornish.

Babs said: “The patients here are very generous throughout the year and it is fantastic that they have raised so much for such a good cause.”

The group is open to patients and medical centre members. Meetings are quarterly and feature a guest speaker.
