SHOPPERS have given a helping hand to a group of volunteers providing life-saving medical assistance.

Customers at the Anglia Co-op store in Godsey Lane, Market Deeping, handed over nearly 20,000 till receipts during a six-week fundraising campaign for Deeping First Responders, raising £200.

The Deeping responders attend more than 200 emergencies each year and, as a self-funded group, have to raise about £2,500 each year.

During the Pick Up A Penny fundraiser the store gave 1p to the first responders for every till receipt handed in.”

Deeping First Responders co-ordinator Helen Bembridge said: “It’s absolutely brilliant to think that so many people have supported us.

“The money will go towards training two new responders and extra oxygen needed at emergency call-outs.”
