YOUNGSTERS are being encouraged to take up skipping to keep a healthy heart.

The British Heart Foundation wants children in the East Midlands aged seven to 16 to sign up for its Jump Rope For Heart programme to keep fit and raise funds for the charity.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the start of the scheme and the foundation has released a “Silver Skip” tutorial video which can be watched at www.bhf.org.uk/jumprope.

Groups and schools can also register for the scheme on the website.
