DAREDEVIL friends did a parachute jump in aid of Help for Heroes on Monday.

Emma Rushton, of Bridge Street, Langham, and her friend Laura Tasker, both 20, did a skydive at Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire to raise money in memory of Laura’s brother Liam who was killed in Afghanistan in March.

L/Cpl Tasker was a soldier based with the 104 Working Dogs Squadron at St George’s Barracks in North Luffenham. He was killed while on foot patrol near Camp Bastion on March 1. His springer spaniel cross Theo died of a seizure the same day

Emma and Laura are both sociology students at The University of Leicester and took time out from their summer break to do the skydive.

They decided to raise money for Help for Heroes because the charity supports soldiers and their families who have been killed in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Emma, who works at Ragdale Hall near Melton, said: “It was brilliant and such an amazing experience.

“As soon as I landed I wanted to go again.”

The girls raised more than £1,000 between them.
