HUNDREDS of people braved the wind and the rain last night to support Oakham’s late night shopping.
The High Street and part of Church Street were closed to traffic and stalls were set up selling foods, hot toddy and gifts.
By 6pm the rain started and the wind picked up. Umbrellas were turned inside out and gazebos were almost blown away but it did not put people off.
The Victoria Hall craft market was packed with residents searching for art work and Christmas gifts.
Shops, pubs and restaurants benefited from people who popped in to shelter from the elements and there was still a jovial atmosphere throughout the town.
