A WORLD record was smashed yesterday (Sunday) after 786 fairies descended on Burghley Park, near Stamford.
Charity Anna’s Hope, which supports children and young people with brain tumours, asked people to dress as fairies in an attempt to break the world record for the most fairies in one place.
Carole Hughes, who founded the charity with her husband Rob in memory of their daughter Anna, was delighted when the count revealed there were 786 fairies there.
It still needs to be verified by the Guinness Book of World Records but the previous record was 337.
Carole said: “We well and truly smashed it. It was a really magic day and there was a fantastic atmosphere.”
