People were digging out their old antiques to have them valued and help raise funds for a worthy cause.

A valuation event was held at the house of Sheila Collard, in Stapleford Road, Whissendine, for the Rutland branch of the RNLI.

Those who attended brought along a range of items including china collections, old
photographs and maps, which were looked at by Peter Jones, of Swans of Oakham, who either valued the items or advised people on what to do with them.

Laura Reekie, who helped organise the event, said: “We raised £300 and everyone enjoyed listening to what Peter had to say.”
