NEW facilities at a hotel have officially been opened.

High Sheriff of Rutland Bart Hellyer cut the ribbon on the new disabled facilities at The Falcon Hotel in High Street East, Uppingham, during an open day.

The hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment and the opening of the disabled toilets and a stone ramp marks the completion of the first phase.

Hotel director James Torbell said: “The open day was the third one we have had to show the people of Uppingham who wouldn’t normally stay in the hotel the chance to see what we are doing.

“The disabled facilities are now up to a fantastic standard and Bart Hellyer has worked with us quite closely. He was very impressed with the work that has been done.”

During the open day, people were able to enjoy free refreshments and Mr Torbell said the feedback from people was positive.

He added: “Everyone here was really pleased with how the day went. A lot of people came through the doors and they thought it looked good.”
