A musician will play the piano for 12 hours straight to raise money to help traumatised forces personnel.

James Major, 58, from Yarwell, will attempt a 12-hour pianothon at Yarwell Village Hall on May 18.

Mr Major will begin at 8am and will aim to finish with the Warrington Just Friends choir joining him from 7.30pm to kick off an evening of entertainment with other performers taking to the stage, including local pianist Nicholas Taylor.

He will be raising money for Combat Stress, which helps service personnel who suffer psychological problems after returning from a combat zone.

Mr Major said: “I hope to be joined by lots of musicians and singers and will play with them, totally unrehearsed. The object is simply to keep me going.

“I am hoping people will sponsor me and everybody is welcome to drop in to listen and pledge their support.”
