Janie Monks will hold charity ball for Help for Heroes and the Royal Air Force Association

A WOMAN is hoping people will put on their finest attire and turn out for a charity ball which she has organised to raise funds for two military charities.

Janie Monks, of Harrington Road in South Witham, is set to hold the event, along with friend Alyson Hunter, at Greetham Valley Hotel, Golf and Conference Centre on September 29 in aid of Help for Heroes and the Royal Air Forces Association.

The evening will include a three course meal, a performance from a military band and charity auction, as well as a visit from special guest, actor Warwick Davis.

Janie has previously completed a number of fundraising events for Help for Heroes, including a 70-mile bike ride in the New Forest. It is a charity close to her heart as her husband John, and father Edward, both served in the RAF for a combined total of 48 years.

Janie said: “I’ve done physical challenges for the charity before but this time I wanted to do something a little different.

“I hope that lots of people will get dressed up and come and support two great causes.

“It would be great if we could raise £1,000 which will be split between them.”

Tickets for the event are £45. For tickets and more information, call Janie on 01572 768116 or 07874010023.
