A care home that was under threat of closure has been saved, ensuring 40 staff keep their jobs and 23 elderly residents do not have to be moved.
The Red House, in Stamford, was due to close at the end of January, after owner Dinesh Patel said the business was no longer viable because of the long commute from his Surrey home and the rising costs of hiring agency nurses.
On Monday, after weeks of negotiations, a sale was agreed and completed with Market Deeping-based Country Court Care.
Mr Patel said: “It is sad that I’ve had to sell but I am really pleased that the 40 jobs will be saved and the residents don’t have to move to other homes.”
Country Court Care has a number of care, nursing and residential homes in the area and further afield.
Its managing director Alykhan Kachra, said: “This acquisition is further commitment to one of our core beliefs that high quality care should be available to all older people within the community in which they have lived their lives.”
