John Clare Cottage will feature on BBC One’s Countryfile

The home of a famous poet will be featured on BBC programme Countryfile on Sunday.

John Clare Cottage in Helpston, the childhood home of one of the 19th century’s greatest English poets John Clare, will feature in the programme on BBC One at 7pm.

Countryfile presenter John Craven visited the cottage on Thursday last week and interviewed one of the deputy managers David Dykes about the cottage, its artefacts and its work in the community.

The cottage was bought by the John Clare Trust in 2005 and has been restored to create a centre where people can learn about the poet.
