PEOPLE are being urged to get involved with a drive to clean Stamford during a litter pick day.
McDonald’s in Ryhall Road, Stamford, is holding the Love Where You Live day on Saturday, September 22.
It will be holding a community litter pick in Stamford, which will start at the Recreation Ground at 11.15am and volunteers will be given high visibility tabards to wear and issued with gloves and bags.
People manager Cheryl Carter is hoping to make a real difference in the town.
She wants to hear from any groups or schools, which want to get involved.
She said: “We have several routes planned but we need you to help us make the biggest impact we can.
“Our aim is to impact as many people as possible with the message of Keeping Britain Tidy and to sustain this initiative and develop further relationships with other local groups for many years to come.”
Franchise owner Matt Jarrett, also owns the Glinton, Haddon and Wisbech branches of McDonald’s, which will also be holding litter drives on the same day.
Matt felt so strongly about litter that he purchased a van with a driver who works full-time to clear McDonald’s rubbish from around the four sites. The company requires restaurants to clear 100m around the sites but Matt feels this doesn’t go far enough.
The franchise has even been praised for its efforts by the chief executive of McDonald’s UK Jill McDonald.
The van will be there on the Love Where You Live day to take away the litter collected.
McDonald’s plans to hold community litter picks every month next year and Cheryl pledged that if any groups help out on the Love Where You Live day, McDonald’s would help them out in return.
