THE jubilee boat that sailed down the River Thames will be the subject of this year’s Friends of Rutland Sailability reception.
Rutland Sailability was invited to take part in the river pageant by the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Dr Laurence Howard, who will introduce the presentation.
It takes place at Barnsdale Lodge on Wednesday, where there will be an opportunity to meet the crew and see the story of the boat’s journey in pictures and video.
The Drascombe Longboat, which is called Wally Goldsmith, was donated to Rutland Sailability in 2005, by The Rotary Club of Oundle and was decorated by Catmose College pupils.
Everyone is welcome at the evening, which runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and is one of the club’s major fundraising events.
Friends coordinator Mike Baumber said: “We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to share in this once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the spectacle of Rutland’s participation in the Queen’s diamond jubilee celebrations.”
Tickets at £15 each to include drinks and canapés, are available from Mike by phoning 01780 740289 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org
