AS Christmas cards start arriving, people are being urged to donate the stamps to a good cause.
The Rotary Club of Stamford St Martin’s is aiming to collect 110 stones of stamps and postcards, the equivalent weight of the tenor bell in the church in High Street St Martin’s.
So far, the club has collected 11 stones towards its target.
Money raised from the sale of stamps will go towards the Leprosy Mission.
Rotarian George Hetherington said: “We get lots of stamps at this time of year.
“It is important for people to remember that something they would normally throw away can make a big difference to our appeal and to people’s lives.”
Stamps can be donated at the Mercury office in Sheep Market, Stamford.
