APPLES were the theme of a fundraising event on Saturday.

Ketton Eco-Group held its first apple day at Ketton Methodist Church in a bid to raise funds for the church restoration project.

The event also raised awareness of the variety of apples there are in the Stamford and Rutland areas.

Ketton Eco-Group sold a range of apple products which members had made themselves from apples in the village’s four orchards, including jams, chutneys, apple butter and apple juice.

There was also the opportunity to have a go at apple pressing to make juice, apple bobbing and there was also grafting demonstrations.

Organiser Adam Cade said: “The event went brilliantly and we had a full house.

“It was a good community event that we would consider holding again.”

It raised nearly £300 for the church project.
