VETERANS have thanked cyclists who raised more than £1,000.

Tom Patridge and Carl Heron have handed over the £1,150 to members of Langtoft, The Deepings and District branch of the Royal British Legion.

The pair rode 130 miles between Sunderland and Whitehaven in May.

Mr Heron, 37, of Cloven Ends, Langtoft, and Mr Partridge, 21, of Kesteven Close, Market Deeping, were supported by Chris Ward and Graham Stokes.

The branch has presented certificates of appreciation to the team and sponsors, Shot Bowl.

Branch chairman Edwin Black said: “I would like to add my personal thanks to all the members and all the people who sponsored this achievement.”

The branch changed its name to include the Deepings earlier this year.

A recruiting campaign at The Deepings Agricultural Show and Country Fair proved to be successful.
