VILLAGERS leapt into action in South Luffenham today (Sunday) to rearrange their diamond jubilee celebrations.
There had been plans for an outdoor event with live music and entertainments but at the last minute the event was moved to the village hall.
Lines of tables were set up and about 110 villagers took their own picnics, talked and sang songs.
Organiser Carole Pearce-Smith of The Old Barn, South Luffenham, said: “I am so pleased. If we hadn’t put this together I don’t know what we would have done.
“The event has been run by Connect which is a village charity and the atmosphere has been fantastic.
“It was true British spirit. The rain will not spoil it.”
