DANCE sessions have been taking place in Bourne thanks to the volunteer work of two teenagers from the town.

Lucy Goldsmith and Sophie Guillari, both 19, have been giving up their free time to share their love of dance with young people at Bourne Youth Centre.

The girls volunteer at the youth centre to run the dance sessions on Tuesday nights.

Lucy said: “We used to go to the youth club, and do dance sessions all the time when we were younger and we wanted to offer something for kids to do now.

“The kids really enjoy it.”

In recent months a group of at least eight girls and one boy have been practicing hard in preparation to perform in a series of regional dance events.

After coming second at South Kesteven District Council’s Street Games event in Grantham the troupe qualified for a regional final in Lincoln in July where they came third, with two dancers coming first in the freestyle dance section of the competition.

Lucy and Sophie are now looking to build on their recent success and extend their dance classes, providing lessons for all, not just those who can afford lessons.

To get involved go along to a session at Bourne Youth Club on Tuesday nights from 6.30pm - 9pm.
