Letter: Off-roaders are just having fun - 26/06/09

I write with regard to the article in the Mercury, dated June 12 – police targeting the off-roaders at Casterton Quarry.

As a resident of Arran Road, and only living a couple of hundred yards from these, I can clearly hear the people on their bikes and enjoy listening to them. they are having fun, and why not? There is nothing else in Stamford for them to do.

They are out of the way and, let's be honest, apart from a bit of noise it's not that bad. I fully support all those who ride on there, and long may they do so. I think the police should spend more time catching real criminals.

If they don't ride their bikes there, where else can they do it? I would rather they were there than being on the streets in town, as there is nothing else to do in Stamford as a youngster.
