MPs must set an example

HAVING read Mr Hetherington's letter I agree that no one is perfect but then again we are not all MPs.

We expect the people who rule us to set an example.

It isn't good enough to say we did nothing wrong, we only followed the rules, but these are the people who made the rules, that passed the laws in their own favour.

Paper and paper clips cannot be compared with the looting these people carried out.

Politicians cannot be compared with entertainers, for what they do MPs are overpaid.

How many people have a three-day week? which is all many MPs do.

How many people have the fully paid holidays and breaks that they have?

Since we are now ruled and usually over ruled by the European Union, we could get rid of 90 per cent of parliament and not miss them.

Their conditions of service should be exactly the same as any other worker who has to work and live away from home.

What special skills do politicians have except to be good liars and conmen.

It will be interesting to see how good they are when they are kicked out of parliament and have to face the harsh reality of life that the rest of us have to live with.

No, Mr Hetherington, the public didn't know what was going on in Parliament or most of them would have been out on their dirty necks long ago.

If all this proves one thing it is that our Parliamentary system has failed, is rotten to the core and the system needs changing.
