A jubilee beacon will be lit in Deeping St James this summer if England reach the FIFA World Cup final.
Deeping St James Parish Council is preparing for an England victory and has agreed to use the beacon in Jubilee Park should the team win the semi-final.
It was erected in honour of the Queen’s diamond jubilee and will be used to celebrate other historic occasions.
Coun Ashley Baxter said: “The council is sincerely hoping for an England World Cup victory and we want the whole village to get behind the team. Who knows? The knowledge that our small community is confidently preparing to celebrate may be just the spark of inspiration that Roy Hodgson needs to lead our squad to victory.”
