A LOCAL trust held a stall at Oakham market on Saturday to raise some much needed funds.

The Likoma Link Trust organised a tombola style ‘pick a parcel for a pound’ event, to raise money for the work they do on Likoma Island.

More than £335 was raised by volunteers who sold blank parcels to customers, which contained children’s toys, pottery, picture frames and much more.

The trust was set up 12 years ago by eight volunteers who raise money to help and support schools and hospitals on the African island.

Trust treasurer Peter Davis said: “The people who came thought it was a jolly good idea.

“We raised £335 which was very good and we’re very grateful to everyone who came along and bought a parcel or kindly donated money.”
