A lingerie model is hosting a series of fundraising events in the run up to having her head shaved for charity.
Lizzie Haines hopes to raise £10,000 for the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel between now and Valentine’s Day when she will lose her long locks.
The 33-year-old already raised £3,500 for charity by cutting her long hair into a short bob after her father was diagnosed with cancer in 2005.
Lizzie, of Siskin Avenue, Uppingham, said: “I try to do something charitable every couple of years as I think it’s important that we all play our part.
“When life gets the better of you and you need the help and support of a charity, the ongoing work they do becomes ever more significant and the role the public plays in that is invaluable.
“Breast cancer is happening to women in my demographic and it’s important for everyone to sit up and take notice.”
Lizzie’s first event takes place at The Vaults in Uppingham on Sunday from 6pm with live music from The Real Monsters, a raffle and man auction when four men will auction their services.
One is offering gardening services, one will cook the contests of your fridge, another is offering a handyman service and the forth is offering a date night. Admission to the event is free and everyone is welcome.
Lizzie, a self-employed photographer, will round off her fundraising with a party night at Manhattan 34 in Leicester on February 14 when hairdresser Jennifer Chase, of Hair and Booty in Uppingham, will perform the head shave.
Jennifer said: “I’ve been cutting Lizzie’s hair for years and I can’t stand the idea of shaving it off but I clearly can’t argue with her when it’s for such a good cause.”
