A university student from Bourne has hit the national news after wearing a Katy Perry inspired Union flag dress at the Conservative Party conference.
Lisa Wade, 23, of Hawthorn Road in Bourne, graced the pages of The Daily Telegraph and featured on television programmes Day Break, Newsnight and the BBC News after she was spotted wearing her custom-made PVC dress at the conference in Manchester on Monday.
Lisa, who is a third year history student at the University of Nottingham and a member of the university’s Conservative Association said: “It was my birthday and just meant to be a bit of a joke. I just wanted a photo with Boris Johnson. I didn’t end up getting it but I did get a photo with almost everyone else.”
One of the Conservative cabinet members who spoke to Lisa about her dress was Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osbourne.
Lisa said: “It was really strange and surreal. I had a five minute conversation with the Chancellor about Katy Perry and her position in the chart.”
Lisa’s dress for the conference was inspired by pop-star Katy Perry’s stars and stripes dress.
