YOUNGSTERS gave up their Sunday to pick up litter.
Stamford Youth Panel, which is made up of representatives from schools in the area, organised the litter pick to help the community see young people in a better light.
They spent the morning clearing The Recreation Ground and The Meadows in Stamford.
Katie Burke, 13, a pupil at Stamford Queen Eleanor School and a member of the panel, said: “Many older people look at young people as thugs and bullies and we wanted to show them that we are not all the same. We are huge supporters of the building of the skatepark and so we wanted to show our support.
“There was a great turn out and we had fun and there was a competition for the person who picked up the most litter.”
Teenzone and members of the Stamford Skatepark Committee helped to coordinate the event.
