20 Samurai swords stolen from Oakham

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of Samurai swords were stolen from a property in Oakham.

The incident happened between 12pm and 3pm on Wednesday July 15, when the victim found that twenty Samurai swords had been taken from her back garden in the Peterborough Road area of Morcott.

Upon further inspection she found that a bike that had been left on her driveway had also been taken.

The bike is described as a silver Apollo, XC technology child's mountain bike.

PC Kevin Gray, the officer investigating the incident, said: "The victim is keen to get the items back and we hope that by releasing this information someone will contact us with details of their whereabouts.

"As the incident happened in broad day light the chances of someone seeing the incident are increased and we want anyone who thinks they may have seen the burglary to contact us.

"We would also like anyone who is approached by someone trying to sell them a Samurai sword or anyone who knows of someone who has acquired a number of the swords in suspicious circumstances, to call us."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1124 Kevin Gray on Leicester 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 1124. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
