A six-year-old girl’s campaign to encourage dog owners to clean up after their pets has swiftly become a success.

Grace Munton-Hague decided to take action after getting fed up with the amount of dog mess she had to avoid on her walk to Market Deeping Community Primary School.

She put up posters in the alleyway between Bramley Road and The Grove asking dog owners to clean up the mess and we featured her campaign in the Mercury.

South Kesteven District Council, which is responsible for dealing with dog fouling, noticed the story and acted quickly to try and remedy the problem.

Signs were put up warning dog owners they face a fine if they do not clean up after their pets.

And Market Deeping Town Council will discuss plans to install a dog bin in the alleyway at a meeting on March 20.

Grace’s mother Louisa Crowson said: “Grace is really chuffed that they have listened to her and acted.

“It has made a difference. We haven’t noticed any mess really so I think that the word got out after the article.

“I am pleased that the council responded to Grace’s concerns.

“It goes to show that a small person can make a big difference.”
