Two dedicated volunteers have been recognised for their decades of hard work at a charity shop in Oakham.

Sandra Hill, who has helped out at the Age UK store in High Street for 15 years, and Vanessa Llewellyn, who has completed 20 years of volunteering, have received their Long Service Award from the charity.

They were presented with a certificate and bouquet by Oakham mayor Adam Lowe, along with staff, at the shop on Wednesday last week.

Vanessa works 17 hours a week and is responsible for the steaming and ironing of clothes that are donated.

She said: “It was very exciting to receive the award. It’s really pleasing to be recognised.”

Sandra is in charge of the shop’s children section and works eight hours each week.

She said: “It was a surprise to get the award but it really makes you feel appreciated.”
