Air ambulance called after horse rider injured in fall near Empingham

A 63-year old woman was airlifted to hospital after falling from her horse.

A Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance crew was called to a field near Empingham at 11.50am on Saturday.

The woman was found lying in the middle of the field, about 300ft from the nearest road.

She was complaining of neck pain when assessed by the crew.

The woman was carefully immobilised before being airlifted to Peterborough City Hospital for further assessment.

The crew landed at the hospital at about 12.45pm.

The woman’s current condition has not been revealed, but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
