More than 40 staff at an animal feed manufacturer could lose their jobs as the firm looks to move production abroad.

Alltech UK, which has a factory in Ryhall Road, Stamford, and a warehouse in Pinfold Road, Bourne, wants to move its manufacturing operation closer to its raw material production facility in Belgium.

As a result, 43 of about 90 staff between the Stamford and Bourne sites could lose their jobs. Alltech said it was too early to say how many could go from each site.

The company announced the move on Wednesday last week and is consulting with the affected employees, who are mostly involved in production.

European human resources manager for Alltech, Carol Newberry, said, “We will be working closely with the employee representatives and individuals affected to give them the help, information and support they need.”

The changes should begin in the second quarter of next year, with all job losses to be confirmed by the end of December this year.

The Stamford and Bourne sites will operate as the European head office for finance, legal, HR and corporate compliance, and the UK centre for sales and distribution.

Cummins Generator Technologies based in Barnack Road, Stamford, also revealed today it is cutting 95 jobs to try and cope with dwindling global demand.
