A group of young athletes were rewarded for their sporting success.

Several Rutland youngsters were among those commended by Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport. The group selected top performing members receiving support from its Go Gold Talented Athlete Fund.

The awards were given out at two ceremonies at County Hall in Leicester.

Chairman of Leicestershire County Council Rosita Page, High Sheriff of Rutland Trish Ruddle and Paralympic shot putter Daniel West presented awards to Callum Rowley for judo, Toby Williams for sailing and Ben Higgins for athletics.

And at a second ceremony Coun Page and Mr West gave awards to James Reseigh for judo, and Hayden Greaves and Joshua Greaves for triathlon.

Go Gold supports young athletes who are performing at regional standard or above.
