Awards for local farmers from the Royal Agricultural Society

FOUR members of the farming community, who have proved their commitment to the industry, were given awards by the Royal Agricultural Society.
Former bank manager Steve Harris from Ketton and farmer Andrew Brown became associates and charity worker Ian Bell from Brooke and fertiliser salesman John Reynolds from Caldecott became fellows.
The awards are given to those who, in the opinion of the society, have made an outstanding contribution to agriculture in England.
The ceremony was held in the House of Lords in London and the awards were given out by Baroness Byford who until recently was a junior Defra minister.
Mr Brown said: “We were all invited to apply for the awards. You fill in information about yourself and are then visited by two fellows who interview you. The decision is made by a committee.
“It is always nice to be recognised by your peers for the effort that we put in and it was a great honour to go to the House of Lords.”
