Staff at Burghley House are appealing for help to compile an exhibition about the First World War.
They will host a ‘House at War’ exhibition in August 2014 to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of war.
As well as including some of the house’s own wartime collections, the organisers are keen to feature memories of local people too.
Education director Alwyn Pollard said: “We would love to hear from anyone in the area who has memorabilia or family history associated with Burghley during the First World War.”
The exhibition will tell the tale of Burghley’s role during the war when it was a convalescent hospital for injured soldiers and a home for Belgian refugees.
