Call to save post office

PEOPLE in Collyweston are being urged to write letters of objection to the proposed closure of the village post office.

The branch run by sub-postmistress Mary-Anne Andrews from her home faces the axe as part of the latest closure plans announced for Leicesterhsire Rutland and Northamptonshire. Exton, Whissendine, Somerby and Tilton-on-the-Hill are also under threat.

Clerk to the parish council Jo Hemingway said the post office is a vital service.

“Without the post office, we are stuck,” she said. “I hope people in the village will do something.”

Send your letters of objection to: Mark Partington, Network Development Manager, Post Office Ltd, C/O National Consultation Team, Freepost Consultation team before January 10.
