Friday 6pm: Firefighters have been called to a major car blaze in the centre of Stamford.

The car caught fire and there was an explosion in Sheep Market in the town centre just after 5.30pm this evening (Friday, January 24).

Eye witness Nicke Rennie said: “I think the occupants got out in time. It was a massive blaze though. It was a lucky escape by the looks of it. Fire service got there after it started exploding.”

No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
