Carers praised for battling through the ice

Carers are being praised after figures show that home care services to the county’s elderly were maintained during January’s snow and ice.

Lincolnshire County Council portfolio holder for adult services, Councillor Graham Marsh, said: “Carers and home support workers rose magnificently to the challenge, with some offering to help on their days off or by going out in pairs to remote areas, ensuring nobody was left at risk.

“The difficult weather conditions during January were enough to inspire anyone to take a duvet day, whilst making it tricky for many others to get out and about.

“I’m therefore really proud that all our carers and social workers stuck so determinedly to their task of visiting the county’s residents who rely on our services in their homes.

“To maintain the service during the recent appalling weather shows the dedication in Lincolnshire.”

A total of 3,531 people receive in-home services across Lincolnshire, totalling about 79,000 visits each week. 331 people receive visits in the Bourne and Stamford area.
