College students have been recognised for their hard work at an awards ceremony.

New College Stamford invited its top performing students and their families to a Pimm’s reception to celebrate their success.

The event highlighted the top five per cent of students. The evening was co-hosted by the college’s hospitality, catering and music students.

Deputy Principal Lavinia Robinson honoured each student collecting an award with speeches from their tutors before handing over to Pat Terrey, Chair of the Corporation, who presented trophies to recognise their individual successes.

The evening ended with the reveal of Student of the Year, which was given to Stamford resident Nicola Ellis.

As a mature student, Nicola has managed to develop her skills and qualifications in Health and Social Care from Level 2 and is in a position to apply to university. This was all done while upgrading her English and maths and giving birth to her youngest child.

Principle Andrew Patience, who retired this academic year, congratulated all those honoured at the ceremony.
