Changes to ambulance operations are delayed
East Midlands Ambulance Service has delayed making a decision on the proposed changes to way the emergency service operates.
The results of a 13 week consultation on plans to close its 66 ambulance stations, including those in Ryhall Road, Stamford, South Road, Bourne and Station Road, Oakham, and replace them with 118 community posts and standby points, were discussed at a Emas board meeting yesterday.
After reviewing the consultation Emas has announced that it requires more time to allow further analysis to make sure the final proposals work operationally and financially, particularly concerning the buildings it owns and operates from.
The Estates Business Case will now be discussed on March 25 instead of January 28.
The additional time will allow Emas to review alternative options with the aim of developing final proposals for the board to consider.
