The organisers of a clothes sale which raises thousands of pounds for charity are hoping this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.
Rutland Macmillan Cancer Support is set to host its Good As New Clothing Sale on Friday and Saturday next week at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel and donations of designer garments have been flooding in for the annual event.
Last year’s event raised more than £40,000 for the regional branch of Macmillan as 800 eager shoppers flocked to the sale.
The High Sheriff of Rutland Trish Ruddle, who is the joint organiser of the event, said: “We’re all extremely excited about what’s on offer this year.
“We’ve received a large amount of top quality clothing as well as accessories. We’re all working hard to ensure that there’s plenty on offer.
“Ticket sales have been excellent and we’re hoping we can raise more than £40,000.”
The event kicks off on Friday with a ticket-only sale between 5pm and 8pm at the hotel. Tickets are £15, which includes Champagne and canapés from Hambleton Hall.
On Saturday, the doors to the sale will be open from 8.30am to 1pm. Entry is £5 which is payable on the door.
Organisers have been delighted with the wide range of clothes and accessories that have been donated by local businesses and residents across the area.
The event will cater for everyone as items for women, men and children are set to go on sale.
Trish added: “We’re very pleased that there will be something for everyone - ladies, men and children, from ball gowns to babygrows and hats to handbags.”
“There are some fantastic bargains and it’s a great sale for school students who have prom nights coming up as there are many cracking dresses for girls and dinner suits for the boys.
“There really are thousands of outfits.”
