Children got into the spirit of Christmas at a special village event at the weekend.

Scores of youngsters turned out to get creative at a Christmas workshop at St Mary’s Church in Manton on Saturday.

The children made and put up festive decorations around the church as well as making festive gifts, such as necklaces and crafts, to give to their parents for Christmas.

The event was organised by Anne Cowan and Hui-Yene Bladworth.

Hui-Yene said: “It went very well and it was very successful.

“The church now looks wonderful and very very festive.”

At the end of the workshop, the children were treated to a Bible story.

The village is hosting a number of other events over the Christmas period. Carol singers will be out tonight from 6pm and a crib service is being held at the church on Christmas Eve at 4pm.
