Splat the Cat author Rob Scotton from Rutland has a new Christmas app out

The creator of children’s picture books which are hugely popular in the United States has produced a new app.

Rob Scotton’s Splat the Cat series has sold 4m copies in America and his Russell The Sheep series is also widely known. Sales of both are particularly good in the UK, France and Australia.

Christmas Splat, the new app, brings the character to the digital world.

Rob, who lives in Oakham with his artist wife Liz, also designs greetings cards, calendars, diaries, ceramics and soft toys. Harper Collins publish his books and the Splat the Cat character is currently being developed as a stage show in the US.

Using the app, children can make e-cards and video recordings.

“I’m loving this new Splat app,” he said. “It’s been so exciting to watch him extend his furry, black paws from the flat world of picture books to a brand new digital home on the iPad and iPhone and in 3D.

“This new form provides his audience with the perfect way to engage with him.”
