Children enjoy fun day out

CHILDREN with special needs from schools in the Deepings enjoyed a fun day out thanks to the Rotary Club of the Deepings.

Two coach loads of children and their teachers and carers had a fun-filled day at Wicksteed Theme Park in Kettering as part of the 20th anniversary of Rotary Kids Out Day.

The event meant that more than 20,000 children and their carers across the country could go on trips to the seaside, zoos, safari parks, museums, theme parks and farms organised by their local Rotary clubs.

The winners of last week’s Battle of the Proms and wine competition are: P Ellis, of Stamford; J Greenwood, of Langtoft; Adrian Grigg, of Stamford and Lucy Smalley, Stamford.

They will be sent their tickets and prizes shortly.

Four-year-old Michael Wharam, of Stamford, won the Trunki suitcase competition in last week’s Mercury. We will be writing to his family soon to give them details of how they can receive the prize.

This week’s competition – to win a DVD every week for a year – is on page 17.
