A Christmas tree festival raised £1,500 for a church appeal.

The Seaton Church Tower Appeal committee hopes to raise £25,000 for three projects at All Hallows’ Church.

They plan to renovate the clock face, which is also the village war memorial, in time for the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

They also need to replace the church bells’ bearings and would like to install a sixth bell in the church tower.

Proceeds from the festival take the total to £10,000 since the appeal was launched on November 1.

Committee chairman Allan McLoughlin said: “We have got off to a cracking start and are grateful for the support.”
