Come worship with us, says Bourne’s new church group

A new evangelical church group run by two former Jehovah’s Witnesses is holding its first session in Bourne on Sunday.

The church group has been set up by a small group of
non-denominational Christians who currently meet for study and worship in home groups.

The two men launching the group, which is based at Wake House in Bourne, are Pastor Jason Wright and Jason Thickpenny, who were both Jehovah’s Witnesses but who have now moved away from the practices of the order.

The new groupsay they are best described as Christian Evangelicals.

Mr Thickpenny said: “We are looking for people to join us, especially if they have never been to church
before.

“It is a place where every-one is welcome.”

The men choose Bourne as a location to hold their church meetings because it is central to their activities in the area where they regularly preach on the streets.

Mr Thickpenny, who is from Peterborough, said:
“Our vision to engage the wider community with the Christian message has led us to make available a
regular place of fellowship for all interested in conservative evangelical Christian
practice.

“Our motivation and desire is to engage an increasingly secular and post-modern world with the Christian gospel.

“A message of hope, love and freedom yet firmly grounded within the matrix of Biblical theology.

The first meeting will be at 10.30am to 12.30pm in The Baxter Room, in Wake House, in North Street, Bourne.

A short expositional reading of scripture will compliment worship.

No formal collection will be taken.

As well as Sunday worship the group will also conduct weekly home Bible studies
and six-weekly teaching days on various topics and doctrine.
