Crowds of people turned out for two big events in Uppingham yesterday (Sunday).

Celebrations were held across the town to mark the opening of the Uppingham Heritage Trail, which highlights historical sites.

The town also hosted its third French-style Brocante Antique Market, which featured more than 30 dealers showing off their wares to scores of visitors.

The points featured on the route include Market Place, Uppingham School and Tods’ Piece.

Yesterday’s grand opening included guided tours of the trail, live music, food and beer tasting. There was also speeches from Uppingham mayor David Casewell, a Viking display and Morris dancing.

Copies of the trail leaflet are now available at most shops, pubs and restaurants in the town.

The market was organised by Uppingham Town Partnership with The Rutland Antiques Centre.
