Crowds lined the streets of the Deepings as the traditional parade made its return to Deepings Carnival yesterday (Sunday).

The event, organised by the Deepings Lions Club, was moved to a Sunday this year and organisers were delighted with the success of the new day.

The fun began with a parade of classic vehicles and a Tour de France theme. Led by carnival queen Mollie Markham and princess Phoebe Robinson, the parade wound its way through the streets of the Deepings before finishing at John Eve Field.

There they kicked off a full day of events in the arena, live music on stage and funfair rides for people to enjoy.

Lions member Dave Turner said: “It went exceptionally well. Moving it to a Sunday was a good idea.

“Even though it clashed with some major sporting events we still got a good number of people. There were about 1,500 there all in all.”
