Staff at a housing association are celebrating after it was recognised as one of the best employers in the UK.

Spire Homes, which provides social housing for rent in Rutland, was awarded a two star ‘outstanding’ accreditation from workplace engagement specialists Best Companies.

The award is designed to recognise organisations that demonstrate a high level of commitment to their workforce and is based on the results from an employee survey.

Staff at Spire Homes scored their job satisfaction with the organisation very highly due to strong leadership, dedication to training and personal development, and high levels of staff engagement.

The association was one of more than 1,000 organisations that applied for star status in 2012 but fewer than half achieved accreditation and only 180 organisations throughout the country were awarded two stars.

Managing director Julie Doyle said: “Our staff are our biggest asset and we are proud of the work they do. We’ve worked hard to create a vibrant workplace which encourages and empowers our staff to do their jobs well and have fun along the way. This is a testament to our staff and shows what a great place Spire Homes is to work.”
