A pub customer had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance after a ceiling fixture fell on top of him.
The person was in a group of three dining at The Captain Noel Newton in Oakham on Wednesday night when the fixture fell, hitting all three.
A spokesman for JD Wetherspoon, which owns the pub, said: “Pub staff quickly raced to the area and removed the fixture from them. All three customers were very clearly shaken and in some pain.
“One of the customers complained of neck and back pains and was eventually stretchered out of the premises into an ambulance.
“The other two involved were more shaken, than physically injured, it appeared, and did not go to hospital, as far as we are aware.
“This is an isolated incident where the fixtures have failed. The Wetherspoon property team, architect and main contractor have been on site and, as a precaution, we have removed similar fittings and are in the process of testing others.”
The pub in High Street opened in November last year.
